When does the season start and finish?
The 2020-21 season is a cohort modified season - starting October 23rd, 2020. Fall season will run for 6 weeks. Winter/Spring season still to be determined.
What is a cohort?
A cohort is a group of 3-4 teams that play each other over 4-6 weeks. Then take a 14 day break before playing in another cohort of new opposing teams.
Can players practice with teams from the same club while scheduled in a LIWSA cohort?
Once players enter a LIWSA cohort, they may not practice or scrimmage with another team or players that are not part of the 4 team LIWSA cohort. If they are found to have broken that cohort guideline/rule - they may not return to practicing or playing with their team until a 14 day waiting period has been completed.
Will there be any reshuffling of Divisions?
The league has tried their best to keep divisions together; however, some shuffling occurred in order to organize 4 team cohorts.
Will travel be required vs opponents?
There will be some travel involved in some cohorts. Teams travelling in the Fall season will be ensured less travel in the Winter/Spring season. The league has tried their best to minimize travel for all teams involved.
Where can I find my team game schedule?
Schedules are currently being updated on the website. It is suggested to view your team schedule via your Team Page, under the 'Teams' menu above.
Intra-club Permits - Adult to Adult Player Permit
For the 2020-21 season no Intra-club permits allowed due to cohort guidelines & restrictions.
Youth to Senior Permits
BCSA has advised youth to senior permits are allowed - with strict cohort guidelines: All youth to adult permits must be done before the first cohort begins. This means OCT 8th before 4:00pm. Any player permitted to a senior team becomes part of that team and cohort through out the duration of the cohort and may not practice with their youth team only the senior team they have been permitted up from. The permitted player must be a registered youth player within their youth district. Once the cohort is completed or the youth player leaves the cohort the 14 day wait period must be done before the player return to any other team sport related activity. Forms for yout district approval go to either: Lower Island Soccer Association: admin@lowerislandsoccer.com or Upper Island Office: upperislandsocceroffice@gmail.com
Who do I contact if my home field is not playable?
If you are the home team it is your responsibility to check the field conditions and notify the opposition, liaison and referee coordinator as soon as possible.
